Raffaele Manni is the Director of the Unit of Sleep Medicine and Epilepsy at the Institute of Neurology, IRCCS C. Mondino in Pavia. As a professor per contract with the University of Pavia, he runs teaching courses about EEG and Polysomnographic Techniques at School of Specialization of Neurology and Neurophysiology, Faculty of Medicine. He is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine (AIMS) and of Epinetwork, a network of epilepsy centers in Lombardia Region. His main educational and professional steps are as follows: degree in medicine (summa cum laude), University of Pavia (1977); specialization in neurology, University of Pavia (1981); specialization in clinical neurophysiology, University of Pavia(1985); training in clinical neurological practice at the Department of Clinical Neurology, University of Pavia (1978); training at Epilepsy Centre of the Institute of Neurology “C. Mondino” on a grant of the Ministry of Public Health (1980); Specialist Assistant at the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology (1981–1990); Assistant Chief Physician at the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology (1990–2001); Director of the Unit of Sleep Medicine and Epilepsy since 2002. His main clinical and research activities are in the fields of nocturnal epilepsies, comorbidity between epilepsy and sleep disorders, sleep in Parkison Disease, Parasomnias, and Narcolepsy.
