Jose Marcos Jurado obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry in 2001 from the University of Seville, Seville, Spain. He presented the defense of his Ph.D. thesis at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the same university in 2004. From 2004 to 2006, he worked for different research groups at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and the University of Granada. He was hired as an Assistant Professor in 2007 at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Seville, where he currently holds a position as an Associate Professor. His main research lines have been the development of spectroscopic and chromatographic methods for food analysis and the application of pattern recognition techniques to the characterization of these products according to chemical descriptors. He is the author of several papers on these topics in journals of high impact in the area of analytical chemistry and food science and technology.
