Toshihiro Akisue received the M.D. and the Ph.D. degrees from Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine, Kobe, Japan, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 2000, Akisue was a Research Fellow at the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Anatomic Pathology, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, USA. From 2001, he has been working as a part of teaching staff in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine, Kobe, Japan. From 2014, he serves as a Professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Science in the same school and an Advisor for Musculoskeletal Tumor Unit. He is mainly interested in musculoskeletal tumor and conducts clinical and basic researches. He is a Member of Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA), Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS), Society for Biomaterials, and International Skeletal Society (ISS). He serves also as a Consultant Reviewer of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (American volume) and as an Associate Editor of JBJS Case Connector.
