Huijun Liu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 1995 and 1998, respectively. He completed his Ph.D. degree at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, in 2003. He joined the Physics Department of Wuhan University in 2004 as an Associate Professor and became a Full Professor in 2008. His main research interest is application of first principles and related methods to study the structural, electronic, and other physical properties of nanoscale systems. Other research topics are related to new energy materials which include high-performance thermoelectric materials and advanced Li-ion batteries. Professor Liu has been the Principal Investigator of two NSFC grants and one NCET program and the Participator of two "973" programs of China.
