Dimitrios J. Fletouris

Dimitrios J. Fletouris was born in Athens, Greece, in 1959. He received a degree in veterinary medicine and the Ph.D. degree in milk hygiene and technology from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1983 and 1990, respectively. From 1992 to 1999, h served as a Lecturer, whereas from 1999 to 2007, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Presently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the same Department. He is a Member of the IDF Standing Committee on Residues and Chemical Contaminants since 2000. he coeditor and coauthor a book titled Drug Residues in Foods, Pharmacology, Food Safety, and Analysis and (co)authored three book chapters. His research activities focus mainly on the development of methods for the determination of veterinary drug residues in edible animal products. Also, his research interests cover a broad spectrum of instrumental techniques on the quality control of foods pertaining to vitamins, lipids, amino acids, proteins, and other food constituents. Furthermore, he has been involved in research related to novel foods and biodegradation of veterinary drugs by probiotic and lactic acid bacteria.
