Nicholas Tentolouris was born in 1962. He holds the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. He is an Associate Professor in medicine and the Director of the Diabetes Centre, 1st Department of Propaedeutic Medicine, Laiko General Hospital, Athens University Medical School, Athens, Greece. Tentolouris graduated with a medical Diploma from Athens University School of Medicine, Greece, in September 1988. He specialized in internal medicine in 1998 and in diabetes in 1999. From 1992 to 2003, he was a Senior Registrar in internal medicine. He was a Lecturer in internal medicine and diabetes (2003–2007). Since 2007, he has been an Associate Professor/Lecturer in the same field. Tentolouris was a Clinical Research Fellow at the Department of Medicine, Manchester University (1997-1998), in the field of diabetes and its complications. His fields of interest are diabetes mellitus (neuropathy, diabetic foot, endothelium, early atherosclerosis) and obesity-metabolism. He participated in 18 clinical trials (phase II-III) in the field of diabetes as PI, sub-I, and co-I. He is also a member in 8 national (founding member in 3) and 4 international scientific associations (Founding Member and Member of the Executive Committee of the Diabetic Foot Study Group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes). He has 72 full publications in international journals and 18 others in national ones, 3 letters to the editor, 130 presentations in international congresses as abstracts or proceedings, 4 chapters in international books, and 8 chapters in national books. He coauthored a book with 3 others entitled Atlas of the Diabetic Foot, John Wiley and Sons, in 2003.
