Netsanet Shiferaw Terefe
Netsanet Shiferaw Terefe works as a Research Scientist and a Research Project Leader at CSIRO Food and Nutritional Sciences, Australia. Netsanet graduated with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, an M.S. degree in postharvest and food preservation engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), Belgium, and a Ph.D. degree at the Department of Food and Microbial Technology from the same university. Her research experience includes conventional food processing technologies such as thermal processing, freezing, and drying as well as emerging food processing technologies including high pressure, ultrasonics, and pulsed electric field processing. Terefe joined CSIRO as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2006. Since joining CSIRO, she has been involved in different research projects dealing with improving food product quality and processing efficiency through the application of innovative technologies such as high pressure, ultrasonics, and pulsed electric field processing alone or in combination with conventional processing technologies.
