Rebecca Worthylake recieved her B.A. degree in chemistry from the Univeristy of Oregon in 1989 and her Ph.D. degree in cell biology from the University of Utah in 1998. She then moved on to a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Keith Burridge at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA, where she studied Rho GTPase regulation of the cytoskeleton and cell motility. This work was applied to both immunological and oncological cell culture systems, which has been the foundation of her independent laboratory at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She is currently an Associate Professor in the departments of oral biology and pharmacology.
