Umberto Bernabucci is an Associate Professor in environmental physiology and ruminant nutrition at the Department of Agriculture, Forests, Nature and Energy (DAFNE), University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy. He received the Summa Con Laude degree in animal science from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Catholic University of Sacro Cuore, Piacenza, Italy. He is active, for over 15 years, in the areas of feeding and management transition dairy cows and feeding and management heat‐stressed dairy cows. He is the Chair of the Graduate and Master Courses in Animal Science and Director of the Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology Lab at the Department of Animal Science, University of Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy. His current research involves studies of interactions between lipid metabolism, metabolic diseases, immune response, and oxidative status in dairy ruminants with particular attention to peripartum period; adipokines and energy homeostasis; effects of heat stress on physiology, health, and performances of dairy cows.
