Sandor Kasas is born in Serbia in 1960. He graduated in Human Medicine and received the Medical Doctor degree from the University of Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1987 and 1991, respectively. In 1998 he received the Privat Docent degree in histology and general embryology from the University of Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland. Kasas is involved in teaching histology and embryology at the University of Lausanne and the University of Fribourg. His research activities essentially concern atomic force microscopy (AFM) applied to biological samples. More specifically he is interested in imaging and measuring the mechanical properties of biological material using AFM. From 2002 he is working at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and at the Département de Biologie Cellulaire et de Morphologie of the University of Lausanne.
