Luis Galipienso obtained the B.S. degree in biology sciences at the University of Valencia, Spain, and the Ph.D. degree in plant virology at the “Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA)” in Valencia, Spain. Since 2003, Luis Galipienso has a permanent position as a Researcher at the Department of Plant Pathology of the “Intitut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA)” in Barcelona, Spain. His research interests include biological and molecular characterization of plant viruses, improvement of new tools of virus detection, and the study of interactions between viral pathogens and their hosts. Currently, their main research lines include the study of several aspects of tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) and Parietaria mottle virus (PMoV) on tomato and pepper cultivars and cucumber vein yellowing virus (CVYV) on cucurbit cultivars.
