Ferdinando Costantino received a Ph.D. degree in chemistry in January 2005 at the University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy. In 2006, he won a one-year Postdoc position at the Rennes University, Rennes, Brittany, France, working under the supervision of Dr. T. Bataille. He has worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Perugia and an Associate Research Fellow at the ICCOM-CNR institute in Firenze since January 2009. The scientific activity of Dr. Costantino is oriented towards the synthesis, characterization, and study of the properties of inorganic-organic hybrid materials like layered compounds, coordination polymers, and MOF based on metal phosphonates and phosphinates of transition and rare-earth metals with gas absorption, magnetic, and luminescence properties. He also works with nanomaterials based on layered compound like HTlc (hydrotalcite-like compounds) and metal phosphonates for biological and catalysis applications. He is the coauthor of more than 45 papers in international peer-reviewed journals covering the fields of inorganic chemistry, crystal engineering, and materials chemistry.
