Peter Chedraui is currently the Director of the Biomedicine Institute and a Professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. Dr. Chedraui received his M.D. degree at the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. He completed an Ob/Gyn residency program at the Hospital Gineco-Obstétrico Enrique C. Sotomayor. He was awarded a fellowship sponsored by FIGO and ACOG in maternal fetal medicine at NYU Medical Center under the tutorship of Charles J. Lockwood. Moreover, he is steady staff physician assigned as the Chief of the High Risk Pregnancy Labor and Delivery Unit at the Enrique C. Sotomayor Hospital Guayaquil-Ecuador. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies, having over 40 peer-reviewed publications. He is an active research collaborator for several international joint efforts and is currently Member of the Faculty IRB and the Research Council of the Universidad Católica. His primary research interests are molecular biology of preeclampsia, preterm birth, and genetics of osteoporosis. His clinical interests include the study of the menopause and the epidemiology of osteoporosis and also the prediction of preterm delivery and preeclampsia. He is also interested in health care management and quality assurance.
