Chingiz Hajiyev was born in November 29, 1958, in the Kelbecer, Azerbaijan. In 1981, he graduated from Moscow State Aviation Technological University (MATI), Moscow, Russia, with Diploma degree with honors in the field of automatic and information systems. He also obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees. He then received both his Ph.D. and D.S. degrees in engineering in the process control from a superior certifying commission at the Council of Ministers of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from Azerbaijani Scientific and Production Association (ASPA), Neftgazavtomat, Sumgait, Azerbaijan, in 1987 and 1993, respectively. He served as a Professor in the Department of Electronically-Calculated System Design, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku, Azerbaijan, where he has been teaching from 1995 to 1996. Since 1996 till present, he has been working as a Professor in the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Istanbul Technical University Istanbul, Turkey. He has more than 370 scientific publications including 9 books and about 180 international journals and international conference papers. About 60 research papers are published in the Science Citation Index (SCI) Journals. He is a Full Member of the International Academy of Navigation and Motion Control, Saint Petersburg, Russia. He was awarded a grant from the International Science Foundation, New York, NY, USA, in 1993. His research interests include system identification, fault detection, isolation, fault tolerant aircraft control system design, reconfigurable flight control systems, Kalman filtering, and integrated navigation systems.
