Wah Yun Low

Wah Yun Low is a Professor of psychology at the Medical Education and Health Research Development Unit, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She graduated with a B.A. degree (with Honors) in psychology and obtained both her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in medical psychology from the University of Surrey, Guildford, England. She is actively engaged in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, service, and consultancy. Professor Low has served as a Consultant for international organizations, as well as national and local agencies, particularly on psychosocial aspects of health issues. Her main area of research and interest revolves around psychosomatic illnesses, sexual and reproductive health, and behavioral medicine. Dr. Low is professionally affiliated to a number of learned societies. She is a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapy, a Member of the International Society for Behavioral Medicine, as well as the World Federation of Societies for Biological Psychiatry. Moreover, she is the Founding Member and currently the Vice President of the Malaysian Association for Research in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Professor Low has authored and coauthored about 150 publications in the peer-reviewed journals and has 14 books and book chapters. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health, a journal owned by the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH).
