Andreas Schwager

A. Schwager is a Principal Engineer in Sony’s European Technology Center in Stuttgart, Germany, and has been working on powerline communications for over than 15 years. In 1993, he earned a diploma in telecommunication engineering from the University of Cooperative Education, Stuttgart. In May 2010, the University of Duisburg-Essen awarded him a Ph.D. degree following the publication of the thesis “Powerline Communications: Significant Technologies to Become Ready for Integration,” which discussed the utilization of MIMO PLC and the concept of dynamic notching to solve the vast EMC discussion on PLC. Dr. Schwager worked for ANT Bosch Telecom (Backnang, Germany) and Grundig (Nurnberg, Germany) before joining Sony in 1997. Today, Dr. Schwager represents Sony at various standardization committees at IEEE, ITU, CISPR, CENELEC, HomePlug, and ETSI. He is the rapporteur of more than 10 work items where technical standards and reports are published. He is also author of numerous papers presented at research conferences and the inventor of tens of granted IPR in the area of PLC and communications.
