Kozo Matsumoto, a D.V.M. and Ph.D. degrees, is a Professor in genetics in experimental medicine, Faculty of Life Sciences, Kyoto Sangyo University, Kyoto, Japan since April 2009. He received a B.S. degree in veterinary medicine (Hokkaido, 1969) and passed national examinations for veterinary medical practitioners. Matsumoto received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the Hokkaido University. He worked as a Research Associate in the School of Medicine at Hokkaido University for 6 years, then in the human genetics in the School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania for 2 years, and an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Tokushima. Matsumoto is an expert in genetics of animal models of human diseases, including type 2 diabetes. He successfully revealed all loci concerning type 2 diabetes and obesity in OLETF rat by genomewide screening. He has reviewed many manuscripts of Journal of Experimental Animals and Journal of Veterinary Medical Science in the fields of genetics and diabetes.
