Her research interests have focused on pathophysiology of hypertension and in particular, cellular aspects of remodeling and endothelial dysfunction. An important part of her research has been dedicated to the application of confocal microscopy to the study of vascular structure and function. More recently she has contributed to the field of the alterations in elastic fibers in hypertension. Dr. Arribas is currently interested in the study of fetal programming of hypertension and endothelial dysfunction conducting studies in experimental animal models of maternal undernutrition and collaborating with the group of Dr Pilar Montero in the study of the influence of maternal and early perinatal nutrition on arterial elasticity and endothelial-to-smooth muscle cell communication.
