Mazlina Esa was born in Johor, Malaysia. She received the B.E.E. degree (with honors), M.S. degree in RF engineering, and Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia, University of Bradford, UK, and University of Birmingham, UK, in 1984, 1987, and 1996, respectively. Esa is attached to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM, since 1984. She has served several key administrative posts and is currently a Full Professor. Her research interests are RF/microwave and antenna engineering, THz\PHz technology, wireless power transmission, CAD\CAE, qualitative research, and quality engineering education. She is a Cofounder of IEEE Malaysia AP\MTT\EMC Chapter and IEEE Malaysia Section and has served various posts of executive committee in the Chapter. She was the Chapter Chair from 2007 to 2011. She is currently the Counselor of IEEE UTM Student Branch. She is an active Senior Member of IEEE. She has also served various key portfolios in international conferences organized by the Chapter including General Chair, Technical Program Chair, and Tutorial Chair. She also serves as Internal Steering Committee Member of International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC), and IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (TALE). She is chairing APMC 2017 in Malaysia.
