Zhen Liu was born in 1970. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China, in 1998. From February 2000 to January 2002, he performed his first postdoctoral research in the University of Hyogo (formerly the Himeji Institute of Technology), Japan. From August 2002 to November 2005, he performed his second postdoctoral research in the University of Waterloo, Canada. From December 2005, he was appointed as a Full Professor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Waterloo. He is currently a Member of the Editorial Board of the Chinese Journal of Chromatography (Sepu) and ISRN Chromatography. He has authored and coauthored 1 monograph and 87 peer-reviewed papers, which have obtained citations more than 1200 times (h index: 22). He has delivered more than 20 invited and plenary lectures in international and domestic conferences and institutions. His research interest is mainly the development of novel functionalized materials and hyphenated approaches for the separation and analysis of biomolecules.
