Dr. Xiao-Jun Luo, an associated professor in Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of Chinese Academy Science (CAS), was born in June 1972. He gained his BSc in Organic Chemistry from Sichuan University in 1995. After three years working in a fertilization company, He moved to the Institute of Geochemistry (Guiyang) of CAS where he completed an MSc in Geochemistry in 2001. In 2004, he obtained his PhD on Levels and Sources of PAHs and OCPs in Pearl River and its adjacent coastal area in Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of CAS. He took up his present post in September 2004. His research addresses all aspects of the environmental sources, fate and behavior of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). His research currently focused on investigating (1) the distribution, trends (spatial and temporal) of persistent organic pollutant (POPs), such as PCBs, OCPs, and emerging pollutants (Flame Retardants), in environment; (2) bioaccumulation and trophic transfer of POPs in both aquatic and terrestrial food webs; (3) the biotranformation and metabolism of BFRs in wildlife.
