Peter W. Halligan

Peter Halligan is Professor of Neuropsychology at the School of Psychology and Dean of Strategic Futures and Interdisciplinary Studies at Cardiff University. Before moving to Cardiff in 2000 he was MRC Senior Research Fellow at Oxford University. Awarded the E.P. Abraham Junior Research Fellow at Green College, Oxford in 1993, he was also awarded the British Psychological Society's Spearman Medal in 1994 and the Presidents' Award for outstanding contributions to psychology in 2005. Since joining Cardiff University in 2000 he has played a central role in establishing CUBRIC, Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (WICN), and the UnumProvident Centre for Psychosocial and Disability Research. A Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Academy of Medical Sciences he is editor of the journal Cognitive Neuropsychiatry and has published over 160 peer-reviewed papers and several edited books including Methods in Madness, The Oxford Handbook of Clinical Neuropsychology, Malingering and Illness Deception, Effectiveness of Rehabilitation for Cognitive Deficits and Power of Belief.
