Thomas Hoehne studied thermal engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. In 1996, he worked as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Expert at the ABB Research Center in Switzerland. Since 1997, he is working at the Safety Analysis Department, the Institute of Safety Research at HZDR, Germany, in the field of numerical simulation of coolant flow and mixing and obtained in this field his Ph.D. degree in 2003. His newer activities comprise CFD analysis in buoyancy-driven natural circulation phenomena and stratified horizontal two-phase flow processes. Currently, he serves as a Senior Scientist and as a Topic Leader at HZDR. Professor Hoehne participated in various national and European research projects and published more than 130 articles in journals and conference proceedings.
