Rita de Cassia Stocco is a Senior Scientific Researcher of the Laboratory of Genetics, Instituto Butantan, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. She received a B.A. degree in biological sciences from University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil, an M.S. degree in genetics, and Ph.D. degree in biological sciences from University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. She has guided around 30 trainees and more than 15 M.A. and Ph.D. degree theses. She has published around 45 papers in indexed journals and presented more than 200 scientific communications in congresses. She is the Referee of the Research Foundation of the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG), the Research Foundation of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP), and the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Her researches emphasize on viral oncogenesis (studies about bovine and human papillomavirus) and genetic counseling.
