Zhi Liu is a Staff Scientist at the Advanced Light Source, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA, USA. He received a B.S. degree from Beijing University, Beijing, China, and an M.S. degree in electrical engineering as well as a Ph.D. degree in physics from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. Before joining the ALS, he was a Research Associate at Stanford University and Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory. Liu’s research interests include in situ characterization of chemical reactions at the gas-solid and liquid-solid interfaces, particularly at the interfaces of electrochemical devices, using ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy and other synchrotron-based techniques.
