Carlina V. Albanese
Carlina V. Albanese, was born in Acquaviva delle Fonti, Italy, in 1955. She received the Medicine and Surgery degree (summa cum laude) from the University G. D’Annunzio, Chieti, Italy, and she was postgraduated in oncology, internal medicine (Catholic University of Rome, Rome, Italy), and radiology (University Sapienza of Rome, Rome, Italy) in 1984, 1989, and 1999, respectively. She was an Assistant Professor of internal medicine at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy, during 1989–1993. She was a Visiting Scientist at the Medical School and Royal Postgraduate Medical School of Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK, from July to August 1990. Albanese served as a Senior Research Associate at The William Harvey Research Institute, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, Section of Bone Metabolism, London, UK, in 1991 and from 1993 to 1995. She worked as a Visiting Scientist at the University of California S. Francisco (UCSF), Department of Radiology, Musculoskeletal and Osteoporosis Research Group, San Francisco, Calif, USA in 1999. Since 1995 she was Leader of the Unit of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease and Medical Assistant of radiology from 2000 to October 2010 in the Department of Radiological Science, University of Rome Sapienza. Since 2004, she is the President and Founder of the Italian Foundation of Research on Osteoporosis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (FIROMMS onlus), and since November 2010 she has been a Professor of radiology at the Department of Radiological Science, University Sapienza, Rome, Italy.
