Eliza Yingzi Du
Eliza Yingzi Du serves currently as an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Indianapolis. From September 2003 to July 2005, she served as an Assistant Research Professor with the Electrical Engineering Department at the United States Naval Academy. She received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Baltimore, in 2003, the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, in 1996 and 1999,respectively. Her research interests include image processing, pattern recognition, and biometrics. Her research has been funded by the Office of Naval Research, National Institute of Justice, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, Indiana Department of Transportation, and several IUPUI internal grants. Dr. Du received an Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator award in 2007 (a prestigious award to junior professor at USA), the Indiana University Trustee Teaching Award in 2009, the Supervisor of the Year Award at IUPUI in 2009, and the Best Paper Award with her students in IEEE Workshop on Computational Intelligence in Biometrics: Theory, Algorithms, and Applications in 2009. She is a Member of the honor societies Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Kappa Phi.
