Girish P. Joshi, MB, BS, MD, FFARCSI is Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He is also the Director of Perioperative Medicine and Ambulatory Anesthesia at Parkland Health and Hospital Systems, Dallas, Texas. He received his medical degree (M.B., B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from B. J. Medical College at the University of Pune, India. He received his fellowship in anesthesiology (FFARCSI) from the College of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and then received another M.D. degree from the University College Dublin, Ireland. His current interests include ambulatory anesthesia, perioperative medicine and perioperative outcome, perioperative pain management, and patient safety. He serves on the Associate Editorial Board of Anesthesia & Analgesia. He also serves on the Board the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and is the Immediate Past President of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia.
