Yin-Yu Chang

National Formosa University, Taiwan

Yin-Yu Chang graduated from and completed his Doctorate in materials engineering at the National Chung-Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, in 2004. He had served in Surftech Co., Santa Cruz, CA, USA as an R/D Manager for coating research and strategies for 13 years until 2005. During his work in Surftech Co., his research team received Innovation Reward from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan (2000) and R/D Innovation Reward from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Taichung County Industry Association (2003). After his industrial service, he joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Mingdao University, Changhua, Taiwan, in 2005. From 2009 to 2011, he started to be responsible of the Surface Engineering Research Center (SERC) at Mingdao University. He directed the research of thin-film applications including hard coatings, antibacterial surface engineering, and vacuum plasma surface modification. This leads to the development of advanced coating systems with cathodic arc evaporation and computerized interfaces. Chang pioneers the research of nanocomposite hard-coating technology for the precision mechanical industries in Mingdao University and promotes the industrialization. At present, he joins the Department of Mechanical and Computer-Aided Engineering at the National Formosa University, Taichung, Taiwan. He has more than 40 research international publications in the field of thin films and nanocomposite coatings during the last five years. From 2007 to 2009, he served as Secretariat of Taiwan Association for Coatings and Thin Films Technology (TACT). At present, he is the Board Member of the TACT.
