Iain Stuart Young
Iain Young is based in the Institute of Integrative Biology in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool. . His research focuses primarily on growth, adaptation and change in the musculoskeletal system, in particular the molecular basis for musculoskeletal growth, development and performance, how the system responds to different environmental conditions, nutrition and different functional demands. His expertise has been applied to developing novel approaches for researching fish nutrition, muscle growth and performance, cardiac muscle properties in health and disease, the effects of environment and nutrition on the muscle growth and development and the welfare implications of exercise and environmental enrichment in a wide range of animals including fish and mammals. Iain Young is also the Programme Director for Bioveterinary Science and takes an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate education and training.
