Tsvetanka Babeva graduated from the Department of Applied Optics and Spectroscopy, Faculty of Physics, Sofia State University, Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1994. Babeva is currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Optical Materials, Institute of Optical Materials and Technologies “Acad. J. Malinowski” (IOMT), Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Sofia, Bulgaria. She joined the Central Laboratory of Photoprocesses in 1995 as Physicist. She received her Ph.D. degree in 2003 in the area of condensed matter physics. In 2007, she was awarded the Arnold F. Graves Scholarship and spent 2 years as a Postdoc Researcher at the Centre for Industrial and Engineering Optics, Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland. Her scientific interests are focused on gas sensors with optical encoding based on photonic structures exhibiting structural colors. She has expertise in the areas of Bragg stacks, sol-gel, thin film optics, optical characterization, UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy, chalcogenide glasses for photonic applications, zeolite nanocomposites, acrylamide-based photopolymers, computer simulations, and modeling of holographic recording process. Babeva was a project Coordinator of 3 projects and collaborator in 13. She is a coauthor of 60 scientific papers. She has more than 50 participations in international conferences.
