Xu-Ping Li works as a Professor in mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry at the College of Geoscience and Engineering, Shandong University of Science and Technology, China, and the Dean of the Department of Fundamental Geology. Li obtained the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mineral deposits/mineralogy and petrology from Nanjing University, China, and the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Mineralogy, Petrology, and Geochemistry, University of Freiburg, Germany. Li’s research focuses on applications of petrological, geochemical, geochronological, and phase equilibrium techniques to various petrogenetic problems, such as characteristics and evolution of the mantle rock, petrogeneses of Precambrian metamorphic rocks, petrology and geochemistry of ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks in zones of continental collision and oceanic lithosphere subduction, metasomatism, and rock/fluid reaction of ultramafic rocks and rodingites in ophiolites. Li has made many publications in scientific journals including Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, the Journal of Metamorphic Geology, Lithos, the Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, International Geology Review, Acta Petrologica Sinica, and the Chinese Science Bulletin. He served as a Referee for the following journals: Geological Magazine, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, European Journal of Mineralogy, International Research Journal of Geology and Mining, Precambrian Research, Marine and Petroleum Geology, Acta Petrologica Sinica, Chinese Science Bulletin, Geological Review, and others, as well as serving on the editorial board of the Geological Review.
