Ksenija Lopandic

University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Austria

Ksenija Lopandic is a Senior Scientist at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria. The key competences on which his work is based are microbiology, yeast biodiversity, yeast systematics, and phylogeny. Lopandic's research focuses on the area of biodiversity and evolution of ascomycetous and basidiomycetous yeasts. The objectives of these studies are to investigate the microbial populations in different natural habitats in order to understand the yeast interactions and molecular changes under various environmental conditions. The current projects are focused on studies of the chromosomal structure of interspecies hybrid yeasts, the genome evolution in different stress conditions, and their contribution to the phenotypic properties.
