Yetunde M. Olumide
Yetunde M. Olumide was born in Nigeria on the 21st of September, 1943. She serves as a Professor of medicine, and a Consultant Physician, Dermatologist, and Venereologist. Until her retirement in September 2008, her almost 35 years of academic and professional career were spent at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. She graduated with M.B. and B.S. degrees from the University of Ibadan in 1968. She later pursued the University of London Postgraduate Diploma Course in dermatology, at the Institute of Dermatology, St. John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin, and successfully concluded the course in 1974. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College of Physicians (FMCP); a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP); a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD); a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS); a Member of the British Association of Dermatologists. Her special research interest is in the field of contact and occupational dermatology. Her Thesis on this subject earned her a University of Ibadan Doctorate degree in medicine (M.D. degree) in 1990. She has received several awards both nationally and internationally. Among which, she was adjudged the Best Teacher in the Department of Medicine of the University of Lagos, and the most outstanding female medical practitioner in Nigeria.
