B.K. Mandal was born in Kolkata, India in 1963. He received the B.S. degree with honors in chemistry in 1987, the M.S. degree (with specialization in organic chemistry) in 1989 from the Calcutta University, Kolkata, and the Ph.D. degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 1998. After completion of his Ph.D. degree, he worked for 1 year as CSIR Research Associate in Jadavpur University. Then, he spent 2 years in Chiba University, Japan (as JSPS Foreign Research Fellow) and 2 more years in the National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Chiba, Japan (as STA cum JSPS Fellow), for his advance research works. Before coming to VIT, he worked in the University of Texas at San Antonio as Research Scientist for 1 year. He is currently the Fellow of the Chemical Research Society of India, Indian Society of Analytical Scientists, the Chromatographic Society of India, the Indian Council of Chemists, The Indian Science Congress Association, and the Indian Chemical Society. Currently he is working on separation chemistry, chromatography, nanomaterials, and dose-response toxicology studies of toxicants.
