Rob Martens is an Educational Psychologist. He is a Full Professor at the Open University of the Netherlands (OU), Heerlen, The Netherlands. Currently, he is the Scientific Director of the Ruud the Moor Centre (RdMC), which is part of the OU. The RdMC aims at improving teacher training and work place learning for teachers. The scientific approach of the RdMC is aimed at combining research with educational practice, in order to increase the relevance of the research and its impact on education. Rob Martens holds a special chair at Leuven University (KU Leuven) in Belgium. He is also a Director of NeLLL, the Netherlands Laboratory for Lifelong Learning, Heerlen. Martens is the cofounder of the European Association for Practitioner Research on Improving Learning (EAPRIL). His research themes are motivation, multimedia learning, teacher training, lifelong learning, and modus 2 scientific research.
