Jens Allmer is an Associate Professor of molecular biology and genetics at the İzmir Institute of Technology, İzmir, Turkey, and also Faculty Member of the Biotechnology and Bioengineering Doctoral Program as well as the CEO of Bionia Inc. founded as a university spinoff in 2014. In 2010, he was selected as Outstanding Young Scientist for bioinformatics from the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), Turkey. Allmer received his Ph.D. degree in biology with great honor from the University of Münster, Münster, Germany, where he also obtained his M.S. degree. His main research interests are computational proteomics and transcriptomics. More than 30 of his research articles have been published in international peer-reviewed journals. He edited two books and two conference proceedings. He also received more than 10 research grants as a Principal Investigator.
