Zhuoran Wang received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2000, 2004, and 2007, respectively. He was a Research Collaborator with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Bristol, Bristol, U.K., in 2005, working on an active vertical-coupler-based optical cross-point switch for optical packet switching and optical network technology. From 2006 to 2009, Wang was a Research Associate with the same university, where he was engaged in the research and development of an integrated semiconductor optical amplifier- (SOA-) based Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) (SOA-based MZI) and semiconductor ring lasers in two European projects: MUFINs and IOLOS. He is currently a Professor at the School of Optoelectronic Information, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China. He is the Author or Coauthor of more than 50 research papers and serves as a Reviewer for several IEEE journals. His current research interests include optical packet switching, integrated photonics devices, semiconductor ring lasers, all optical signal processing, logic and memories, and optical networks.
