Jean C. Kanitakis
Jean C. Kanitakis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1956. He served as a Coeditor of two textbooks titled Diagnostic Immunohistochemistry of the Skin (1998) and Skin Diseases after Organ Transplantation (1998). He authored many chapters in Greek and in French in international textbooks of dermatology and transplantation. He (co)authored 338 Medline-indexed articles (as of June 2011: 4164 citations, mean citation number 9,29, h index: 31). He is a Member of the editorial boards of European Journal of Dermatology (as a Coeditor), Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Journal of Dermatology, Dermatology Research and Practice, Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications, and Psoriasis: Targets and Therapy. He has served as an Invited Speaker or as a Chairperson in several international or national congresses or courses of dermatology and transplantation (Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, UK, USA, and Venezuela). He is a Member of many national and international societies and institutions. In 1979, he graduated from the Medical School of Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and in 1982, he obtained the Ph.D. degree from the same school. He worked as a Specialist in dermatovenereology at University of Lyon, France, in 1984. From 1984 to 1987, he served as an Associate Researcher at the French National Institute for Health and Medical Research and from 1987 to 1990 as an Associate Professor of dermatovenereology at Claude Bernard University, Lyon, France. From 1991 to 1993, he worked as a Consultant at the Dermatology Department, Herriot Hospital, Lyon, France. In 1993, he served as a Hospital Practitioner at Lyon Hospitals. Since 2008, he was elected as a Full Professor of dermatology, Medical School of the University of Crete, Greece.
