Hiroshi E. Takami

Hiroshi E. Takami Teikyo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan Hiroshi E. Takami was born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1946. He received the M.D. degree from the Keio University School of Medicine, in 1970. In 1970, his internship was U.S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan. His residency training was done in Department of General Surgery, Keio University Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He received Ph.D. degree from Keio University in 1977. He worked as a research associate at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, in 1977, and moved to the University of Texas System Cancer Center, M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute as a visiting assistant professor, Texas in 1978. He returned to Department of Surgery, Keio University Hospital as an instructor and chief surgeon. In 1986, he became an assistant professor, Department of Surgery, Teikyo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, and in 1991, he became professor of surgery. In 2007, he became professor and chairman of surgery in Teikyo University. Since 1979, he was an active member of International Association of Endocrine Surgeons and in 2003, he became a councilor of this Association. He became corresponding member of American Association of Endocrine Surgeons in 1994, and an active member of American College of Surgeons. He is currently editorial boards of Endocrine Journal, Oncology Reports, and World Journal of Surgery.
