Hiroshi E. Takami
H. Takami was born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1946. He received the M.D. degree from the School of Medicine, Keio University, Tokyo, Japan in 1970. In 1970, his internship was U.S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan. His residency training was done at the Department of General Surgery, Keio University Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He received his Ph.D. degree from Keio University in 1977. He worked as a Research Associate at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Tex, USA, in 1977, and moved to the University of Texas System Cancer Center, M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute as a Visiting Assistant Professor, in 1978. He returned to the Department of Surgery, Keio University Hospital, as an Instructor and chief surgeon. In 1986, he became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery, Teikyo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, and in 1991, he became a Professor of surgery. In 2007, he became a Professor and the Chairman of surgery at Teikyo University. Since 1979, he was an active Member of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and in 2003, he became a Councilor of this association. He became a Corresponding Member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons in 1994 and an active Member of the American College of Surgeons. He is currently on the Editorial Boards of Endocrine Journal, Oncology Reports, and World Journal of Surgery.
