Herbert Budka
Herbert Budka obtained his M.D. degree at the University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria. He works as a Professor of neuropathology and Director of the Institute of Neurology (Obersteiner Institute) of the Medical University of Vienna. His postdoctoral training included clinical neurology and psychiatry, but his work in scientific research, teaching, and medical service is in neuropathology. Budka's main domains of research are neurodegenerative disorders including transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (prion diseases), virus diseases of the nervous system, nervous system tumors, and first description and characterization of peculiar types of neurological diseases.
