Institute of Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), Ukraine

Mikhail Veneto was born in 1956 in Norilsk, Russia. He graduated Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MPTI) in 1979 and started the research activity at the Department of Optical Quantum Electronics of the Institute of Physics (Kiev, Ukraine). The subject of his PhD thesis (Candidate of Science degree) defended in 1986 concerned Bragg diffraction in volume holographic gratings. In 1989 he began the investigations in the field of optical vortices. This subject of modern physical optics has developed quickly to Singular Optics. In 1990s he participated in the researches of photorefractive effects at the Optics Group, Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, Denmark. In 2000s he took part in the experimental investigations of light orbital angular momentum at the Institute of Photonics, Technical University of Catalunia, Barcelona, Spain. He received the Doctor of Science degree in 2006 in Kiev. The current position of M. Vasnetsov is the Leading Science Associate, Professor at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kiev, Ukraine.
