Daiming Fan

Daiming Fan is an outstanding expert in gastroenterology. He is now the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the President of the Fourth Military Medical University, the Dean of Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, the Director of State Key Laboratory of Cancer Biology and the Institute of Digestive Diseases, and the Director of National Institute of Clinical Drug Studies at Xijing Hospital. He is the President of the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology, the Vice President of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, a Council Member of the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology and Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee, and an Awardee of Chang Jiang Scholars Program. He was become the President of the organizing committee of World Congress of Gastroenterology and Asian Pacific Digestive Week, which will be held in Shanghai in 2013. He has become the editor, chief editor, or deputy Chief editor of 25 medical journals home and abroad. Professor Fan has a long-standing interest in both the clinical and basic research of digestive diseases and has achieved a grand success especially in the research of gastric cancer. He also has obtained a lot of national grants, including the National Hi-tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), and Key Program of National Natural Science Fund. Professor Fan has won the first-class prize, second-class prize, and third-class prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Awards individually once and a third-class prize of the National Technology Invention Awards. As an editor-in-chief, he has authored 11 books on gastroenterology and oncology; as the first or corresponding author, he has more than two hundred international publications that have mainly appeared in Nature Clinical Practical Oncology, Lancet, JAMA, Annals of Internal Medicine, Circulation, Hepatology, The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Oncogene, The FASEBJ Journal, Clinical Cancer Research, International Journal of Cancer, and so forth.
