Mohammad A. Abido
Mohammad A. Abido is a Professor at the Electrical Engineering Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He received his B.S. degree (honors with first class) and M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Minufiya University, Egypt, in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Engineering Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, in 1997. Dr. Abido has served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, NL, Canada, in 2001, and as a Visiting Scientist at Lehrstuhl für Elektrische Energieversorgung, Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat, Erlangen-Nurnberg, Germany, in 2003 and 2006. Dr. Abido’s research interests include power electronics applications to power systems and power systems dynamics, operation, and control. Dr. Abido is actively involved in research with more than 200 refereed journal and conference publications. His work has been cited for more than 2000 of non-self-citations. Dr. Abido is the principal and coinvestigator of many funded research projects. He has supervised several Ph.D. and M.S. students. Dr. Abido holds several awards such as IEEE/IAS First Prize Paper Award, Industrial Automation and Control Committee (IACC) of IEEE/IAS, 2003, Funded Projects Award, College of Engineering Sciences, KFUPM, 2005, Abdul-Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Researchers in Engineering Sciences, Jordan, 2005, Best Applied Research Award, GCC-CIGRE, 2006, Excellence in Research Award, KFUPM, three times, 2002, 2007, and 2012, and Best Research Project Award, KFUPM, 2007.
