Masahiro Fukumoto

Masahiro Fukumoto finished the Ph.D. course in 1983 at Keio University, Japan, and received the Doctor of Engineering from the same university in 1984. Fukumoto served as an Assistant Professor (1984), an Associate Professor (1993), and a Professor (2002) at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, and a Visiting Researcher (1989) at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada. Fukumoto's main research areas include the development of an advanced joining process which involves both advanced surface modification technology and advanced joining process for the bulk materials, thermal spraying, cold spray, and aerosol deposition in the surface modification process for the materials, coating formation mechanism in the PD process, friction stir welding, and nonmelting plastic flowing process instead of regular fusion welding.
