Eduardo Suárez-Morales is a Mexican biologist born in 26 February, 1960. He recieved his B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. degrees from the National University of Mexico (UNAM). He was a General Director of the Centro de Investigaciones de Quintana Roo (CIQRO) (1988–1993). Currently, he is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Zooplankton Proyect at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur (ECOSUR), Unidad Chetumal. Also, he had been a Chief of the Department of Aquatic Ecology and Systematics of ECOSUR (1995–2001). He has published more than 250 refereed publications on the taxonomy and ecology of Marine and Freshwater Zooplankton, with emphasis on the Copepoda and also on other taxa. He authored 15 books of related topics. He was a President of the Mexican Society of Planktology (SOMPAC) (1992–1994 and 1994–1996). He has been a Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences since 1995. He was a General Secretary of the World Association of Copepodologists (WAC), elected successively for five terms: 1996–2011. He is a Specialist of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and a Research Associate of the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution. Main current interests include the ecology, biogeography, and taxonomy of Marine Zooplankton in tropical latitudes.
