Alaa S. Abd-El-Aziz

Alaa S. Abd-El-Aziz is a Professor of chemistry and the Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Academic and Research at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, Canada. He was also the Vice President (Research, International and External Affairs) at The University of Winnipeg. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. Following his Ph.D. in 1989 at the University of Saskatchewan and an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Winnipeg, in 1990, and moved to the rank of Full Professor in 1997. Abd-El-Aziz’s current research interest is on the synthesis and characterization of metal-containing polymers. In 1997, he was named a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and has been the recipient of a number of awards including the Manitoba Outstanding Chemist Award, the Erica & Arnold Rogers Award for Excellence in Research and Scholarship, and the Clifford J. Robson Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching.
