Kazuhisa Bessho in 1984 received a D.D.S. degree from the School of Dentistry, Higashi-Nippon-Gakuen University, and in 1990, a D.M.S. degree from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Medicine, Mie University, with a thesis entitled “Purification and characterization of bone morphogenetic Protein.” His professional training and employment are among 1984, when he passed the examination of the national board; 1984-1985, he joined the medical staff of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University; 1985-1986, the medical staff of the Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Shizuoka General Hospital; 1990, when he became an Instructor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Medicine, Mie University; 1990–1992, an Assistant Professor; 1992–2005, an Assistant Professor; and since 2005, a Professor and Chairman of the same department. He is recognized in several societies including the International Association for Dental Research, Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine, Japanese Society for Bone and Mineral Research, Japan Endocrine Society, Japan Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The Japanese Stomatological Society, Japanese Society for Biomaterials, the Japanese Society of Oral Implantology, Japanese Society for Jaw Deformities, among others.
