Roque Serrano Gallego
Roque Serrano Gallego obtained his Ph.D. degree with a thesis entitled “Effect of environmental and hormonal manipulation on descendants quality in sea bass,” University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain, October 1990, promoter: Dr. Silvia Zanuy; “Analysis of organophosphorus pesticide residues marine organisms: study of clean-up step—Application to bioconcentration studies,” University Jaume I, December 1997, promoters: Dr. Félix Hernández Hernández and Dr. Francisco Lopez Benet. He also received his B.S. degree in biochemistry in 1984. Gallego finished his biology studies at the University of Valencia in 1984 specializing in biochemistry. Afterwards, he started working on the research laboratory of the Physiology and Culture of Fishes Group in the Institute of Aquaculture in Castellón, and then in the Analytical Chemistry Group of the University Jaume I, Castellón. Throughout these years his main research subject has been marine contamination: (i) determination of pesticides in marine organisms, (ii) clean-up procedures, and (iii) studies on toxicity and accumulation of pollutants in marine organisms. He currently works as a Full Professor of analytical chemistry in the Analytical Group of the Experimental Sciences Department in the University Jaume I (since 1993). He is the author of more than 60 international scientific papers and 12 books or chapters. Moreover he has presented more than 30 communications. He participates as principal researcher or researcher in more than 30 research projects.
