Thomas G. Mayerhofer

Thomas Mayerhoefer was born in 1969 in Parsberg, Germany. He obtained a Diploma in chemistry in 1996 from the University of Regensburg, Germany. In the same year he joined the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany, where he obtained his PhD in 1999 with a thesis about vibrational spectroscopic investigations on Fresnoite ceramics. After his PhD he worked on the optical properties of partly and randomly oriented polydomain materials and obtained the Habilitation degree in 2006. Shortly afterwards he joined the Institute of Photonic Technologies, Jena, Germany. His research interests are currently focused on crystal optics and dispersion analysis of low symmetry crystals.
